What is the workflow of residual current circuit breaker?

Because the arc extinguishing method of residual current circuit breaker has the characteristics of fast, high efficiency and no spark (compared with flashover extinguishing), it is widely used in power distribution devices of various voltage levels in the power system.

  • Why do we need to use residual current circuit breaker?

  • How to detect residual current circuit breaker?

What is the workflow of residual current circuit breaker?

The residual current generates an alternating magnetic flux in the iron core and induces an electromotive force in the secondary coil. When the current is amplified by the amplifier to the set value of the working current, the release will act to make the main switch cut off the power within the rated time to protect personal safety. The residual current protective circuit breaker always trips.

The iron core surrounds all the current-carrying conductors in the circuit, and the magnetic flux produced in the magnetic core is related to the arithmetic sum of the instantaneous currents in these conductors; assuming that the current flowing in one direction is positive and the current flowing in the opposite direction is negative. Difference between residual current protection and leakage protection.

The residual current circuit breaker is in a normal circuit without fault, I1+I2=0, there is no magnetic flux in the magnetic core, and the electromotive force in the coil is zero. The ground fault current Id flows to the fault point through the magnetic core, but returns to the mains through the earth or through the protective conductor of the TN system. How to close the residual current protection circuit breaker.

As a result, the currents through the core conductors are no longer balanced, and the current difference creates a magnetic flux within the core. This current is called "residual" current, and the principle is also called "residual current" principle.

Why do we need to use residual current circuit breaker?

1 Where safe voltage should be used, leakage protectors shall not be used instead. If it is really difficult to use the safe voltage, the residual current circuit breaker must be approved by the safety management department of the enterprise before it can be used as a supplementary protection.

2. Power distribution boxes with residual current circuit breaker should be used for electrical equipment of fixed lines and normal production workplaces; mobile distribution boxes with residual current protectors should be used for electrical equipment in construction and temporary workplaces; For temporary use of small electrical equipment, leakage protection plugs (seats) or socket boxes with residual current protectors should be used.

How to detect residual current circuit breaker?

1. When the residual current increases, verify the correctness of the action: when the AC type residual current circuit breaker is at the rated voltage, the residual current increases steadily from 0.2I△N, and the tripping current is measured.

2. Rated residual current, verify the breaking time: Under the rated current of the AC type residual current circuit breaker, simulate the closed circuit breaker and test the breaking time.

3. When the residual current suddenly appears, verify the breaking time: under the rated current of the AC type residual current circuit breaker, simulate the closed loop and test the breaking time.
